Lion - Day 3

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

Today we are matching the letters L, P, H, and, F. There are two different sets. One set matches the letter with an image. This is to help the child sound out the letter. For example you would sound out the letter L and say lion then draw a line across it. The other set can also be used the same way, but it's also used to help match the lowercase letter with the uppercase letter. I laminate mine to reuse for the next four weeks, but you can print it and have your child draw a line with a writing tool. The file also contains a number match, which we will be working on the following day. You can find the free file here.

This has got to be my favorite craft so far. I highly recommend to print the file on card stock or glueing card board or foam on the back of each cut out. We have been strengthening our daughters hands by letting her squeeze the liquid glue bottle herself. This activity also helps her strength other parts of her hand when she pinches the small clothes pins. Strengthening her hand will help her for when she starts to learn how to write. You can find the free file here.

We are still practicing identifying the number 2. We will be reusing yesterdays's Number 2 Cut and Paste file. I laminate mine and added velcro dots. For today's activity we rolled out some play doh and formed the number two. You can also roll out two circles and place them on top of each lion, counting as you place each circle. We also added lion foot prints to our number two. You can find the free file here.

For the last activity I decided to do a hide and seek letter find. Cut out the squares from the bright colored table. The third table that you see in the file is meant for your little one to glue the pieces there. I cut out the squares and added some foam to the back to add a little bit of color. I then hid them in a small sensory bin that I quickly put together. The sensory bin consists of green rice that I dyed by adding vinegar and green food coloring to a box of rice. The object of the activity is for your child to find the letters and the lions and glue them to the corresponding place. You can find the free file here.
